Apex is planning another busy winter season with fun events and great activities. Once again, Apex Mountain Resort will be hosting National and Provincial events this season. There are many events hosts many events throughout the season so keep your eyes on the calendar for updates and new events. Apex Ski Club is hosting their annual Season Opening Social with a "Dongle Dinner" at the Gunbarrel Saloon at 7:00pm. There will be a wide variety of items for a silent and live auction. This event is open to everyone and is a wonderful way to kick off the new season! Tickets are $25 and available from Head Coach Chris Daniels at Apex (250-809-7120) or in Penticton at the Apex Ski Shop. Limited number of tickets available so pick yours up today!!

Opening Weekend at Apex – Get those itchy feet into your boots and take the boards for some turns! Apex will be closed during the week from December 1 – 5.

The T-bar will be in operation servicing the Okanagan run only. Please note the Okanagan Run is intermediate terrain and in early season condition with man made snow, beginner terrain will be open as weather conditions permit. Discount lift ticket pricing will be as follows: $46 Adults, $37 Teens/Seniors, & $28 Juniors/Masters plus applicable taxes.

13 - 14 Adventure Smart Awareness Days -- Join the team as the share their wealth of knowledge so that you can "Get Informed and Go Outdoors!". This is their first of two visits to the mountain this season.
19 Night Skiing Starts - from 4:00-9:00 pm Friday & Saturday Nights, through Christmas Holidays (except the 24th, 25th and 31st) & the 1st week of Spring Break in March.
NO NIGHT SKIING ON THE 19th DUE TO COLD TEMPERATURES

Christmas Eve Celebrations in the Apex Mountain Village – The traditional Mountain Christmas celebration: The torchlight parade will wind down the Okanagan Run at 6:30pm, followed by Santa’s arrival in his special sleigh to deliver presents to the kids. If you would like your children to receive gifts please wrap, clearly mark and drop off at the Main office before 4:30pm on Dec 23rd. (Please keep gifts small and a manageable size). There will be a bonfire and complimentary Tim Hortons Hot Chocolate and marshmallows. Sign up to participate in the Torchlight Parade in the Main Office before Dec 23rd. Kids under the legal age will need their parent/or guardian to sign the waiver. The actions starts at 6:00 pm.

27 Burton Demo Day – Join the Burton team as they showcase their latest and greatest snowboards for the season. Check out the selection outside the Gunbarrel and take the opportunity to try a few models out!! POSTPONED -- THEY ARE SNOWED IN ON THE LOWER MAINLAND AND CANT GET THE VAN OUTTA THE SNOW BANK!!!

Family Skating Party at the Loop. Join Chad from Coldwell Banker for complimentary skating, bonfire, Tim Hortons Hot Chocolate, and marshmallows at the Adventure Skating Loop from 6:30-8pm. This is a great way to meet other guests at the resort and do some socializing in a fun winter atmosphere!

Expression SESSION!! It's the grand opening of the Okanagan Run Terrain park under the lights! Open to skiers and boarders of all ages -- we are opening up our new park concept of rails down the middle of the halfpipe. The tunes are going to be pumped, local riders are going to be riding and everyone is going to have a jammin great time exploring our new park area. Come on out to join us and jam!!
We are super stoked for this and hope you are all as amped as well!!

Dec 29 - Jan 2 Home Hardware Christmas Camp for young skiers & snowboarders - runs for 5 days in a row. Contact the Snow School for more information.
30 A Holiday Hoedown for Kids!! Join Cowgirl Julie and Sidekick Rick from 7pm – 9pm in the Longshot Cafeteria as they open the saddlebags full of fun, music, crafts, prizes, dog antics and more. Cost is $15 per kiddo, please register & pay cash in the Main Office before noon on the 30th.
31 New Years Eve Celebrations in the Apex Mountain Village -Check out the festivities planned for the Gunbarrel Saloon and Salty’s Restaurant with dinner specials and live music. Longshot Restaurant will be hosting a Family Movie night. Reservations are encouraged for all three of these options!
Fireworks will be set off at 6pm and Midnight over the Okanagan Run infront of the Gunbarrel Saloon.

Avalanche Awareness Days - A weekend to promote Avalanche Awareness within and outside of boundary lines. On Saturday and Sunday we will have demos, information sessions and beacon searches at the top of the mountain at 11 and 1:30. Prizes will be given to the quickest adult searchers at the Gunbarrel at 3:30. Children that participate get Frosty coupons. Après ski there will be festivities in the Gunbarrel Saloon from 3:30 to 5:30. This is a national annual event. Come out, learn something and have some fun.
Saturday @ 3:30pm at Fresh Tracks there will be an A 16mm Avalanche Education Film shown entitled A Fine Line. There will be no charge for the event but donations will be accepted for the CAC (Canadian Avalanche Center).

15-18 6th Annual Firefighters Cup Hockey Tournament – This is the first round of hockey action at the outdoor rink. Look out this tournament gets hot! Click here for more info.

24 Elan Demo Day - Tyler will be here to demo the latest skis and snowboards from Elan's 08/09 collection. He's got everything from sleek carving styles through to fat freerides so pop by the tent outside the Gunbarrel to see what he can do for you!!
29-1 9th Annual Apex Shoot-Out Hockey Tournament - come check out all the fast paced hockey action as teams go head to head on the NHL sized outdoor rink. For more info click here.



7 Saturday Night Sound Sessions
Every Saturday night in February Apex will have you jammin'!! We are bringin' out the sound system & settin' it up in the Okanagan Run Terrain Park. Everyone can listen to the beats while sesshing the rails with their buddies!! It’s a great way to spend a Saturday evening – heck the patrons of the Gunbarrel can see you so why not show 'em some flair. Some of the local riders from the shops in town might also be droppin' in to hang out and ride, maybe they will even have some schwag to hand out if your showin' your stuff!!

7-8 Nancy Greene Okanagan Zone Final E1/E2 Races -- The Okanagan Run will play host to a number of young skiers up to age 11 as they participate this Zone Final Race early in their racing careers.

14 Freeride Boardshop Competition Series in the Okanagan Run Terrain Park featuring the Wall Ride. This is the 1st of the 3 part series with series Finals being a night event on March 28th.
15 8th Annual Chili Cook-off -- Prepare a batch of your best "Secret Recipe" Chili and enter it into this $3 "Tasters Choice" awards for best chili maker at Apex Mountain Resort. Last year's winner -- The office gals, Caley & Oday – For the second year in a row and looking to three-peat this year!
16-20 Home Hardware Spring Break Camps - for skiers, snowboarders, and freestyle riders - Contact the Apex Snow School for more information and to register.
17 St. Patrick's Day - Get your green on!
A Welcome Reception will be held upstairs in the Gunbarrel from 4:30pm-6pm. This is a great way to find out what is happening throughout the resort during your stay as well as socialize with some of the locals and visitors alike. There will be complimentary wine provided by Crowsnest Vineyards and nibbles from the Gunbarrel!

Apex will be closed during the week but open for weekend operations! Come out to the Air Site at 11am for the Annual Dummy Downhill; it's always a great rivalry between businesses, locals and departments all trying to out-do each other!! Build a dummy and watch it fly and crash land in a spectacular way!! Weigh in (max 250lbs) will start at 10am in front of the Gunbarrel, with the launch getting underway at 11am!!! Please let Caley know if you will be entering a Dummy!



4-5 Apex is open for skiing and snowboarding this weekend. Saturday is RETRO DAY so don't be shy!!! Bust out that fab gear we all know you have in the closet and party like its 1979!!
9 Apex Fire Brigade Fundraiser - This is the annual "Firefighters Ball". It will be at the Gunbarrel Saloon with Dinner and Dancing....Get your tickets quick, only $50!! Please contact Bob or Lynda Thomson at 250-292-8399 for Tickets.

Saturday is HAWAIIAN DAY! We are celebrating a great season by seeing it out and welcoming the next one in with style in our bright, flashy, tacky tourist gear!! Sunday - Annual Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt - Look out around the mountain as there will be eggs with special surprises hidden on the hill! This hunt is open to everyone so keep your eyes open; you never know where the Easter Bunny left eggs for us!!! For Kids 9 and under, meet at the doors to the Snow School at 11am from there we will set out on an adventure to find out where the Easter Bunny hid the eggs!!

Apex Mountain Resort is now closed for the season. We look forward to seeing everyone back out on the slopes for the 2009/2010 Winter Season!!
