Driving Directions

Apex Mountain Resort is located in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia, Canada, and is easily accessible by both air and ground transportation. 405km/ 240 miles east of Vancouver, B.C. and only 33km / 21 miles west of Penticton, B.C.. Apex Mountain Resort is accessed by major highways and well maintained roads.

A 35 minute drive from the Penticton Regional Airport, makes Apex Mountain Resort the closest Interior Ski Resort to an airport. (The Kelowna airport is approximately 90 minutes from Apex Mountain Resort). Airport transfers and car rental packages provide several options for ground transportation between airports and the resort.

Flights into both Penticton and Kelowna are regularly available through several airlines including Pacific Coastal Airlines, Air Canada, West Jet and Horizon Air, through the gateway cities of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Seattle. Connecting flights are available from any major centre in North America.

Drive times to Apex are 2 ½ hours from Big White, 2 ¼ hours from Silver Star, 3 ½ hours from Sun Peaks and Spokane, 4 ½ hours from Vancouver, 6 hours from Seattle, and 8 hours from Calgary.

Driving

From Penticton

  • 33 km, 30 minute drive from Penticton.
  • From the North or South of town, take the Chanel Parkway.
  • Turn on to Green Mountain Rd, following the Apex signs. This turn off has a bridge crossing the chanel, immediately followed by a Super Save Gas station.
  • Follow Green Mountain Road for approximately 22km.
  • Turn right at the intersection (Apex Guest Ranch) and drive another 11km to Apex.
  • Once on Green Mountain Road there will be very few signs & no street lights,
  • don’t worry, you are on the right road! These roads are paved and kept in very good condition. Plowing and Sanding is done continually as weather conditions require.
  • Chains are generally not required, but good winter snow tires are needed Oct to April.
  • For winter driving conditions, check with the weather network for highway conditions.

From Vancouver

  • 4.5 Hours Driving Time. Scenic, sometimes winding mountain highway.
  • Trans Canada Highway #1 East to Hope, at interchange, take Highway #3 towards Princeton and Keremeos.
  • At Keremeos, turn left onto Highway #3A. From Bear’s Fruit Stand on Highway #3A
  • (you can’t miss it, on your left) Drive 11.5 km to the turn off to Green Mountain Rd. There is a blue highway sign on your right at which point you will need to move into the left hand turning lane to take the first left onto Green Mountain Road. The turn off is hard to see in the dark. Stay on Green Mountain Rd for 14km until the intersection with Apex Mountain Rd (at the Apex Guest Ranch). Drive another 11km to the village entrance. Follow the signs toward the Village Centre.

FOR THE ADVENTUROUS SOUL WITH A GOOD CAR:

On Highway #3 from Princeton, drive 38 km to Hedley (before Keremeos). Drive 2.7 km from bridge, turn left onto Hedley Nickel Plate Road, marked only with a very small sign on the side of the road. This road is a single lane, dirt, steep, winding road not for the faint of heart, but with spectacular views. Stay on the main road, past the mine building (being decommissioned). The road will start to widen, though is still gravel.

Pass by Nickel Plate Nordic Centre, the road will eventually turn into pavement. At this point keep going down about 1 km, stay right to drive down to the Village Centre.

From Seattle

6 Hours Driving Time. 505 kms There are two routes, both approx. the same driving time.

Route 1:

Drive North on I-5 to Bellingham and exit on Highway 542. Drive northeast through Lynden to cross the border at Sumas.

Trans Canada Highway #1 East to Hope, at interchange, take Highway #3 towards Princeton and Keremeos.

At Keremeos, turn left onto Highway #3A. From Bear’s Fruit Stand on Highway #3A (you can’t miss it, on your left) drive 11.5 km to the turn off to Green Mountain Rd. Drive East to Highway #97. North to Oroville, cross border to Osoyoos.

Stay on Highway #97 North to Penticton. As you approach Penticton, pass the airport on your left, the next light, turn left onto the Channel Parkway By Pass. At the first light, turn left onto Green Mountain Road to Apex Mountain Resort. Drive 22 km, turn right onto Apex Mountain Road.

Turn right at the intersection (Apex Guest Ranch) and drive another 11km to Apex Mountain Resort.

From Spokane

  • 4 Hours Driving Time 380 kms.
  • Drive West to Highway #97. North to Oroville, cross border to Osoyoos.
  • Stay on Highway #97 North to Penticton.

From Fernie, Nelson, Whitewater, Red Mountain

  • 4-6 hours driving time.
  • Drive West on Highway #3 to Osoyoos.
  • Stay on Highway #97 North to Penticton.
  • As you approach Penticton, pass the airport on your left,
  • the next light, turn left onto the Channel Parkway By Pass.
  • At the first light, turn left onto Green Mountain Road following the Apex signs. This turn off has a bridge crossing the chanel, immediately followed by a Super Save Gas station.

From Calgary

  • 8 Hours Driving Time 710 kms.
  • Take Trans Canada Highway #1 West through Banff and Golden to Sicamous.
  • Turn left onto Highway #97 South, follow this highway through Vernon and Kelowna to Penticton.
  • As you approach Penticton, at the second set of lights, turn right onto the Channel Parkway By Pass.
  • At the second set of lights turn right onto Green Mountain Road towards Apex Mountain Resort. following the Apex signs. This turn off has a bridge crossing the chanel, immediately followed by a Super Save Gas station.
  • Follow Green Mountain Road for approximately 22km.
  • Turn right at the intersection (Apex Guest Ranch) and drive another 11km to Apex.
