Apex Mountain Resort is hosting round 3 & 4 of the World Enduro Canada dirtbike event.
This is a two day event with the fastest off-road riders in Canada competing at Apex Mountain Resort. Each competitor has to complete three different aspects of dirtbike riding. There is a very exciting and spectator friendly Motorcross track with 2 double up jumps and about ten single airs with hill climbs and big berms. Then riders have to negotiate a very technical trials course aptly called the Extreme Test. There are over 50 technical features including teeter totters, three foot concrete culverts, log jumps and rock sections. Finally each rider will be competing in an enduro race taking them past the top of Apex Mountain and back to the Motorcross and the Extreme Test area.
"This is not your average motorcross race" comments James Shalman, Apex Mountain Resort General Manager, "Each competitor has to compete in all three events. It is going to be a very physically demanding race. The level of talent will be some of the best in canada with riders coming from as far away as Quebec. The Motorcross and Extreme Test are very spectator friendly and it is amazing what these riders can get over with their bikes. I walked a section of the Extreme Test and I'm still not sure how these bikes are going to get over some of those features. It will be very entertaining as the Extreme Test and Motorcross have been designed so the public will be able to view almost the entire race."
The Gunbarrel Saloon will be open Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday. The Trading Post will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the accommodators are open as well (go to www.apexresort.com for a list of accommodations).
There is no cost for spectating with the races starting at 9 am and wrapping up around 2 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Extreme Test and Motorcross track are located across from the Triple Chair on the base of Green Mountain.
